Let Us Pray: Catholic Prayers for All Abilities is a simple guide to prayer, one showing readers how to talk to God and grow in love through gratitude, thanksgiving, forgiveness, and compassion.

It was specially designed for adults living with an intellectual disability and uses a custom typeface for dyslexic readers. But everyone will enjoy it as a guide to forming a regular habit of prayer.

Featuring a foreword by Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, Let Us Pray includes the “big three” Catholic prayers, prayers for daily life and Sunday Mass, and prayers for special times of life.

Everyone can pray because God loves everyone, and prayer is as simple as a heart-to-heart conversation with God. So . . . let us pray!

About the Editor

Mark Bradford is the Fellow for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. For over twenty years, he has been blessed to serve in leadership positions in various church ministries, including as the founding president of the Jerome Lejeune Foundation in the US. Mark and his wife Denise are parents to Thomas, their sixth of seven children (and first son), who happens to have been gifted with an extra twenty-first chromosome. Mark is a passionate advocate for those born with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. He especially advocates against the threat of abortion following a prenatal diagnosis at every opportunity. The Bradfords reside in the Philadelphia suburbs.

What People are Saying

“This book is special. It is made for people who have a disability to make it as easy as possible to pray. I hope it helps you become a person who prays, who has the habit of praying, and who enjoys the fruits—the benefits—of prayer in your daily life.”

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, Archbishop Emeritus of Louisville, from the foreword

“This prayer book is a gift to our Catholic community. It is an intentional and thoughtful reminder that we are all one Body in Christ. All are welcome, especially in prayer!”

Christie Bonfiglio, Director of the Program for Inclusive Education (PIE), University of Notre Dame

“Bishop Robert Barron often reminds us that Jesus’ identification with the childlike is preserved in so many of the Gospels because it gets us close to the heart of Jesus’ life and message. This book of prayers from Mark Bradford helps to bring all of us into that intimate circle of Jesus’ friends. The prayers here are for all of us.”

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM Cap., Archbishop Emeritus of Philadelphia

Let Us Pray is a good classic prayer book with the most common Catholic prayers. At the same time, it is a prayer book adapted for people of different abilities, offering explanations of prayer and large type. I appreciate it and I think many others will too.”

Fr. Matthew P. Schneider, LC, author of God Loves the Autistic Mind: Prayer Guide for Those on the Spectrum and Those Who Love Us

“With great sensitivity and simplicity, Mark Bradford has given us a beautiful book on prayer that people of all ages and abilities can turn to again and again. I can think of no greater contribution a person could make to the disability community than to offer a book that helps readers lift their hearts to God!”

Charleen Katra, Executive Director, National Catholic Partnership on Disability
